The random ramblings of Swa

I haven't been computing much lately since I finished uni and such. I kinda get sick of doing work and stuff so I tend to start reading books, watching tv or finally catching up with people I don't get to see too often. But i had to come in and say hi to my f-lsit. It's been too long and I still love you guys. If I do find myself on the net, I tend to get distracting by all the fantastic fanfiction I'm watching constantly updated. BUT!!! This week, I'm gonna try and make a comment on everyone's journal jsut to say hi to my old friends and finally shout out to my new ones.

But even without my usually computer loving, I'm still a dedicated fangirl...(am watching the journals and progress of the movie 300 religiously!) Have even watched some BSG eps (cos now I got the SciFi Channel *woot!*) and I must say, Tahmoh scenes are definitely the best to watch girls :P Also, have been downloading BBC's Robin Hood cos my mum is newly obsessed with the hawtness that is Richard Armitage. What a deliciously shouty, leatherclad and eyeliner-y Guy of Gisbourne he makes *purrs*

So while I'm here and in the mood, I wanted to wish Merry Christmas to you all you lovelies with some

 

and since I'm on such a long uni break, I'm gonna try to remember to catch up with you guys and post more often (i know, I'm saying it again!) cos I doing more with the free time and I miss my LJ pals :( Must hceck my uni results on the 19th so I should post then.

Got a surprise in the mail from a Sydney radio station telling me I won tickets to see Pirates of the Caribbean 2 a day before release. So I went and saw it last night and it was quite awesome :D And because I'm a good daughter, I took my dad.

I read some reviews that said it lacked story and whatnot but that's crap. It had a great story with lots of twists and turns and complications... I understood what was going on!! All the actors were good and the cliffhanger at the end was actually really good but also tolerable and not annoying like the 2nd Matrix films. I'm not gonna give anything away AT ALL but Captain Jack has another fantastically strange entrance :P

Otherwise, there's not much else I got up to. This weekend I shall be staying with some Gerry lovin' friends for shenanigans and booze so that will be great :D Had to take 2 days off work this week, my bad *hehehe* 

And I jsut remembered that I never finished my holiday recap. I will get around to that one day...

About 3 weeks of uni break left...It felt much longer last year. Oh well.

I've been very bad and haven't been checking my lj :( and jsut now, I wrote my entire entry and lost it cos the computer surged *grumble* Oh well...I'll be checking my friend's page asap so that will make me happy again.

Update on Lauren H. My best friend eL tells me that she has plateau'd (?) in her progress. But eL is very saddened and full of guilt about her. Lauren is not the same person she was before and never will be. To quote my friend, "the man who hurt her has taken that piece of her that made her who she was," and I can understand entirely. When she told me that I was reminded of a friend I had in primary school. She was shy, quite, very intelligent and sweet. Then she wasn't in school for a few months due to illness and when she came back, she was louder, more immature than before and slightly obnoxious. She was still our friend though, just different. Someone who alot of people have known since her birth now have to get to know a different person. eL feels guilty that she sometimes doesn't wanna see her but other friends' of Lauren's have told her they feel the same. it's horrible really. This man will probably get a bit of jail time and then go on with his life unchanged, while he has changed or drastically affected the lives of everyone around Lauren. 

On a happier note, my Mum got a job for the first time in 20 odd years so she can go overseas again :D So in about 2 years or so, we're heading back to the UK *woot* I've already started saving too but i usually save my cash anyway. 

Okayt, off to read my friend's page and comment. Hope you all still remember me LOL

CLIC Sargent patron, Gerard Butler, has invited guests attending the convention to support the charity via raffle and various other prize-giving opportunities.

More than 170 GerardButler.Net fans from as far afield as the United States, Australia (that's me, one of 10 Aussies who attended. WOOT!!!) and Europe will be attending this one-off (?) event at the Glasgow’s Ramada Hotel.

Fans will enjoy a special screening of their hero’s film, The Phantom of the Opera, followed by a disco/buffet. A raffle in aid of CLIC Sargent will be held during the evening, and proceeds from the sale of specially printed T-shirts will also be presented to the charity.

Hey everyone, I'm back from my 3 and a bit weeks travelling around the world :D Had such a great time and there is so much to tell, so over the next week or so, I'm gonna do a post per country I was in (so that makes 5) First will be Singapore but I cannot wait to tell you guys about that greatness that is Scotland and about the Gerry convention! So crazy.

I would love to try and read everything I have missed but the Friends page doesn't go back that far unfortunately and its about 380 entries (missing about 2 weeks before that as well) *mope*

Hope everyone is happy and healthy and I'm so happy that I can talk to you all again!!!

Well my friends, the time has come :D I'm off on my round the world jaunt with the mother lady :P I leave tomorrow but I don't think I'll be able to post when I get up at 4 in the morning. Will try whenever I can to find internet cafes and post or something but other wise, when I get back, i will just have ALOT to post.
I start in Singapore for about 2 days, then onto Glasgow for a week with a day trip to Edinburgh, then to Paris for a few days, back to London for 5 and then onto Los Angeles for about 3 days as well. I'm so happy that my first overseas trip is so eclectic LOL

But before I go, a quick update on my friend Lauren. I was able to finally speak to her mother Christine and her sister, Simone, I spoke to again. They seem much more at ease. There was a little kids concert going on behind us and Simone wanted them to sing her happy birthday with the rest of the kiddies :P My friend eL was able to go into more detail, saying Lauren is writing now but it still looks very child-like. She began lying and apparently that is a mental development in all people so definitely a positive. She's getting physio and able to move but with help. The best thing I've heard is that she had a typical teen girl moment the other day. eL said when Christine asked Lauren a question, and she did that thing where you sigh and kinda whine and say, "Muuuum, we're talking" and did 'leave now' hand gesture :P So funny. No one can believe how well she is doing. It's so great to hear.

I'll talk to you all later and hope you have a few weeks. I'll have heaps to catch up on ;)

I can't wait to get away from my brother for 3 and a 1/2 weeks. You can't talk to him about anything cos he either tries to better what you have said or done OR he adopts this "I'm too cool" tone of voice and tries to put it down. I was listening to a Sneaker Pimps song (the one I'm listening to right now) and he said, in that tone, "Is this rap? it has rap beats in the music." He made it out like something had been stolen from him. I told him sounds and beats like that in music have been around long before rap was even remotely popular. Moron. Then he asked if I'd ever been to 'real' club in the city, cos apparently only good clubs are in the heart of Sydney. I don't reallt like them, they are overpacked and full of sleazy perverts most of the time. Besides, I don't need to justify myself or my actions to him. I actually did start saying where I'd been to clubs but before I got past one, he interrupted and starting going on about where he'd been. I seriously don't care.

And I partially blame his different friends over the years for how he acts. Ben has been a sheep to the supposed 'cool' kids since he was 12 and he's 21 now, it hasn't changed at all.The friends he has now use him so much and he's too dumb and desparate to please them that he doesn't notice. He actually borrowed my dad's lawnmower to help a friend mow his lawn, he probably did it all on his own too. He won't even do that for my dad who is overweight and has a bad back. Mum thinks he has low self esteem, I'd have to agree. Some different reliable friends who are loyal and reliable would be a good start on feeling better about himself.

I haven't been around much lately, have been busy with organising travel stuff so don't worry if I'm not commenting but I am trying to read everything.

Went shopping for more overseas clothes and got a black top (dad whinged cos its cleavagey...i don't care :P )and black closed high heels (high heels were $30 WOOT!) then I got desparate to read more Outlander so I dropped into BigW to see if they had them - whic hthey didn't *grumble* BUUUUUUUUUUUT I walked past a shoe store and I can never resist looking...I found a pair of beautiful purple high heels with diamontes for $20, should have been about $80!!! And they were my size, I feel in love, I've always wanted purple heels!!! Went to pay for them and it was 20% off...got them for $15!!! WOOHOO baby!!!

Went to blu's farewell party for her going to London to stay for a year or so. Spent the whole time with my tart sisters: Marmalade, JamTart, Rhedyn, and my Tart mother and we had a ball!!! Spoke to so many lovely people and was especially amused by one of Blu's relatives who was Bavarian *giggle* and complained about people who drink warm beer :P Then afterwards, my Outlander addiction was fed by Jammie and Marma who supplied me with the first 5 books, WOOHOO!!!

All in all, a good time. Soon, I have to get my teeth cleaned, my hair cut and dyed, pick up my international currency, pack and see my friends before I leave...shall be a busy week.

I will definitely report in before I leave though.

Exactly 2 weeks till I leave for Glasgow!!!!

1) Had a lovely Christmas with the family. It appears from my present tally that I am an alcoholic, chocoholic and I smell :P

2) Got my Price of Milk DVD today!!! *karl love*

3) Went to the beach today and only got a little burnt in only one place: my legs *YAY* Will be a nice shade of brown within the month.

4) Less than a month til my world trip *HUZZAH*

5) Was watching Hornblower with my friend's dad this arvo. Saw Archie have a fit and get smacked in the head with a hunk of wood by Horatio :P Poor lil fella. Betcha you guys hated Ioan just a little bit in that scene. :D

6) Also watched the animated cartoon of Aeon Flux on MTV the other day. Am so glad they changed the costume for Charlize, bless that female director. :D

Bahumbug...have forgotten the rest. I get distracted too easil...OOoooooo a pony!

In less than a month, I shall be overseas for the first time!!!! To be exact, Jan 20th will be my first day in Glasgow!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, on a happier note, I just read the 1st Outlander book in 4 days. I could not put it down it was so addictive. Oh...my...god, everyone is right. Jamie Fraser is fooking adorable (I want him for christmas) and so totally Gerry...bar the red hair (I'd still jump him with the red hair btw, he is that gorgeous) even the physical descriptions are similar. Am reading the 2nd book already...

OVERSEAS!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! More fookin' exciting than Christmas.

Omg, it was so good. I can't believe some people actually complained about its transition to the screen. They did a great job. Everything that needed to be included was...so what's the problem? And Mummy Tart was reading on IMDb about gay subtext throughout it, so pathetic. I saw nothing of the kind anywhere. The girls and boys were always checking each other out, but not of the same sex. Apparently, some people think Snape loves Harry cos he always stares at him. Ummm, that's called contempt. he doesn't like Harry cos Harry's dad was an arsehole to him, kinda obvious really.
I cried in the exact same parts in the movie as I did in the book. Mummy Tart got all anxious when she saw what the 'stolen treasures' were in the 2nd task...she was all like "omg!!! c'mon Harry, hurry up Harry" *snigger*
The little girl sitting near me got all grabby with her mum when the dragon was chasing Harry on the roof. =P

And omg, tiny 12 year old girl squees when they saw shirtless, bathing Harry...oh dear, I liked watching my old man pervfest much better...Jason Issacs and such *mmmmmm* Would have preferred to see Cedric bathing (older and manlier) =D

Overall, I was really impressed. Was the first of HP films I watched on the big screen and the 1st film I've seen where I've already read the book. Whoever said those who'd read the book wouldn't like it, was full of donkey crap.

In 5 weeks, I will sitting on a plane flying around the world! OMG!!!!! I've never ever been overseas before and I'm starting to get more excited and jumpy about it =D =D

Gonna go see HP tomorrow and pick up my $350 prescription sunglasses for the trip. And to think, some people pay that much just to get normal sunnies. Ridiculous really. Hope HP will be good, everyone says it is so I think I'll be happy. I liked the book the most of all the ones I've read, so fingers crossed =P (have read all but 2 & 3)

Parents had to put our Christmas tree on a table. Cat went crazy last night and was climbing it and knockin off everything in sight. I don't think it will help. She likes heights and it will probably give her more incentive to climb it.

Watched Bridget Jones 2 tonight. Was okay. Bridget being a total moron was made up by adorable, sweet, sexy Mark Darcy moments *sigh* Can I have one of him for Christmas?

Am putting up the Xmas decorations too. The cat is attacking everything!! So cute. But I'll have to watch those fairy lights otherwise kitty will get electrocuted =O
